Comprehension Notebooks/Little letter books
Families,
A few days ago, we sent home Comprehension Notebooks/Little Letter books. Only a few pages were completed in the comprehension notebooks during our guided reading time. Sometimes we got so busy that we never got to these extra books! I did not want to get rid of them, so we sent them home. Feel free to work on these over the summer.
The same goes with the little letter books. I made some extra copies and realized that we won't be able to get to them. Enjoy these books at home!
Thanks!
Take care,
Mrs. Rocky

Newsletter-Our Week In Review- May 21-25th
Dear Families,
This week we talked about the ur spelling pattern. Words like nurse. surf, and turn all have this spelling pattern. We continued to work on our Star Words- all of the words have been introduced. We reviewed these words in the stories, poems, and writing we did this week. We continue to review all words and assess through the year! Please continue to work on these words with your child.
The story this week was How I Became A Pirate While listening to the story, students were working on the strategies of retelling, visualizing, making connections, and stating their opinion. Ask your kindergartner what their favorite part in each story was.
Here are links to the video for you to enjoy!
We work on a poem each week. This week's poem is called "Picnic Guests" We looked for rhyming words and star words. I am sure you have heard this poem often at home! We plan on sharing this poem with some of the big kids!
In math we have been working on our story problems. Students have been working on solving addition and subtraction story problems.
Reminders:
No school on Monday! Happy Memorial Day!
Thank you for all of your support!

Fluency Check!
The students completed a fluency check the other day. The fluency check is a 1 minute adding and subtracting assessment. The students can work in any order but must stop once the 1 minute is over. You might see incomplete sheets or incorrect answers and that is okay! We will continue to work on this skill. Feel free to practice these addition and subtraction facts at home.

Positive Jaguars!
On Monday, the kindergarten classes were in charge of Jaguar Jumpstart. We needed to talk about commitment and we reminded all of the students about the commitment of being quiet in the hallways. To help the students remember, our classes made posters that we shared at Jaguar Jumpstart. You are able to see these cool posters all around our school.
V and Z are sharing some of the posters you will be able to see around school!
