Science Fair Open House - Tonight, 6:30-7:30pm
Spring Break: April 10th - April 17th
Artist in Residence - The Artist in Residence program will start the week we return from spring break! Each K-5 class will get to experience working with local artist, Sally Duback. (http://sallyduback.com/welcome/portfolio/)
Classes will work together to create a variety of paper pulp artworks that will be permanently hung in the hallways of Thorson.
Mrs. Petre is accepting donations of old textiles that can be blended easily to make paper pulp. Old, worn blue jeans and bedsheets of different colors work especially well. If you are donating, please check the fabric content. We need materials that are at least 80% cotton. Please, no heavy sweaters or sweatshirts. If you are able to cut fabric into roughly 1 x 1" squares that would be helpful. Otherwise, Mrs. Petre can take care of this.
Donations can be dropped off in the art room, and will be taken until the end of April. Thanks so much for helping out with this exciting experience!
Girls Running Club at Thorson - Open to all girls in grades 3rd-5th. Running Club will meet Tuesdays and Thursday beginning on April 20th after school. See flyer for additional information and to sign-up.
Thorson Veggie Taste Test of the Month - Thorson students had a chance to taste test Sugar Snap Peas this week, courtesy of the partnerships we have with Fuel Up to Play 60, Wellspring Farm to School program, Thorson PTO and our CSD Food Service program. No surprise...the sugar snap peas were a hit! :)
The results from our taste test are in!

April’s Character Traits is “Courage/Perseverance”. Please print our Courage/Perseverance Statement and post at home. Remind your children that we practice our character traits at school and at home.
PBIS School Wide Goal
Our teachers and staff have been teaching and reinforcing to your children what it means to be a “Positive Jaguar”; being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. These expectations are also reinforced during our Jaguar Jumpstart Monday Meetings.
This school year our PBIS Leadership Team developed school wide expectations for lining up and entering the building after recess:
When the bell rings, stop playing, pick-up playground equipment, and line up
Form a single file line
Enter the building at a voice level zero
Each grade level can earn one “cube” each recess period when these expectations are met. If the entire school earns 350 “cubes” before June 2nd the entire school will earn a field trip to see a movie at the Rivoli Theater. Additional information will be coming.
Bus 307- Bus 307 is at max capacity. Riteway will not be allowing any students to go home with friends as a guest rider. Other arrangements will have to be made if a friend is going home with a student that rides that bus.
