Dear Parents,
This week we talked about the ew spelling pattern. We found out that when we see the ew at the end of the word, it will make the oooo sounds like in new. We sorted out these words, made words that contained the ew pattern, and read ew words. If you have been keeping up with us, your student should know all 54 words. If not, the goal is that by the end of kindergarten your child knows all 54. We continue to review all words and assess through the year! Please continue to work on these words with your child. Because of our busy schedule, I only test Star Words on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The story this week was Hey, Little Ant. It was a story where a little boy wanted to squish an ant and the ant was trying to convince him not to. While listening to the story, students were working on the strategies of inference, compare and contrast, visualizing, and stating their opinion. Ask your kindergartner what their favorite part in the story was.
In this story we also learned the vocabulary words rude and squished. Ask your kindergartner what they mean!

This week's poem is called "Recycle" We created movements, looked for rhyming words, and sorted out word families. I am sure you have heard this poem often at home! It was perfect for Earth Week!
In math we played the game Race To A Dollar. I hope you were able to check out the photos of how it was played!
