Principal's Pen
The unfortunate events that occurred in Parkland, Florida last week certainly have affected many in our community and around our nation.  Our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by this terrible tragedy.  At Thorson and in CSD, our number one priority is ensuring that our students, staff, and families feel safe in our schools.  As Mr. Todd Bugnacki stated in his email to all district families last Friday, we our constantly reviewing and assessing our safety and security measures.  Our staff and students participate in monthly safety drills, which are designed to prepare us for various emergencies that may arise in or around the school.  Before and after each drill, we have conversations with students and staff about the purpose of these drills.  We debrief after each drill and reflect on the things that went well and what could be improved.  In addition to monthly safety drills, Thorson staff receive continual training related to school and student safety.  We are committed to being proactive in regards to school safety and will continue to work with community and school district personnel to review and improve our school security plans.  For more information, please visit Emergency Information for Families on the district website.  Thank you for your continued support.
